The Arabidopsis abscisic acid (ABA)–insensitive abi5 mutants have pleiotropic defects in ABA response, including decreased sensitivity to ABA inhibition of germination and altered expression of some ABA-regulated genes. We isolated the ABI5 gene by using a positional cloning approach and found that it encodes a member of the basic leucine zipper transcription factor family. The previously

As a crucial regulator of ABA signaling, ABSCISIC ACID-INSENSITIVE5 (ABI5) is involved in many aspects of plant growth and development, yet its regulation of anthocyanin biosynthesis has not been elucidated. In this study, we found that MdABI5, the apple homolog of Arabidopsis ABI5, positively regulated ABA-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis. In the abi5-7 mutant, ABA hypersensitivity caused by PYL11 and PYL12 overexpression was totally or partially blocked. By contrast, ABI5 regulates the expression of PYL11 and PYL12 by directly binding to their promoters.

Responsible for reducing cadmium uptake, mediated by interaction with MYB49 . Other Gene Models The accumulated ABI5 protein further shows heteromeric interaction with HY5, and thus synergistically activates its own expression. Our findings reveal a novel transcriptional switch, composed of JMJ17-WRKY40 and HY5-ABI5 modules, which regulates the ABA response during seed germination and seedling development in Arabidopsis. Moreover, although ABI5 protein levels were higher in darkness than in the light within 2 h of ABA treatment, we observed an obvious decrease in ABI5 protein levels after prolonged (e.g., 12 h) ABA treatment, whereas in the light ABI5 continued to accumulate within 12 h of ABA treatment (Figure 2B and 2C). ABA INSENSITIVE 5 (ABI5) is a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor which acts in the abscisic acid (ABA) network and is activated in response to abiotic stresses. However, the precise role of barley (Hordeum vulgare) ABI5 in ABA signaling and its function under stress remains elusive. Here, we show that HvABI5 is involved in ABA-dependent regulation of barley response to drought The Arabidopsis abscisic acid (ABA)–insensitive abi5 mutants have pleiotropic defects in ABA response, including decreased sensitivity to ABA inhibition of germination and altered expression of some ABA-regulated genes.

Moreover, the expression of eight other PYLs is also affected during the germination of abi5 mutants.

By contrast, ABI5 regulates the expression of PYL11 and PYL12 by directly binding to their promoters. In addition, ABI5 was shown to directly activate its own expression, whereas BBX21 negatively regulates this activity by directly interacting with ABI5. Together, our study indicates that BBX21 coordinates with HY5 and ABI5 on the ABI5 promoter and that these transcriptional regulators work in concert to integrate light and ABA signaling in Arabidopsis thaliana.

2019-08-09 · ABF3 and ABI5 are Group A bZIP TFs that are known to be important in abscisic acid (ABA) signaling. However, questions of whether ABF3 regulates ABI5 are still present. In vitro kinase assay results showed that Thr-128, Ser-134, and Thr-451 of ABF3 are calcium-dependent protein kinase phosphorylation sites. ABI5 Encodes a Basic Leucine Zipper Transcription Factor Ruth R. Finkelstein 1 and Tim J. Lynch Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, University of California–Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, California 93106 The Arabidopsis abscisic acid (ABA)–insensitive abi5 mutants have pleiotropic defects in ABA response, including de- of ABI5 protein, whereas afp1 mutants were hypersensitive to ABA and had increased ABI5 accumulation (Lopez-Molina et al. 2003). Most of these measurements compared seedlings that had already germinated with seeds whose germination was inhibited, such that they did not distin-guish between reduced ABI5 levels as a cause or efect of germination. These results indicate that ABI5 acts downstream of ABI3 to reactivate late embryogenesis programmes and to arrest growth of germinating embryos.

As abscisic acid (ABA) receptors, PYR1/PYL/RCAR (PYLs) play important roles in ABA-mediated seed germination, but the regulation of PYLs in this process, especially at the transcriptional level, remains unclear. This postgermination developmental checkpoint is signaled by the stress hormone abscisic acid (ABA), which induces the expression of the bZIP transcription activator ABI5. The growth arrest efficiency depends on ABI5 levels, and abi5 mutants are ABA-insensitive and … 2020-03-24 ABA negatively mediates seed size by influencing the timing of endosperm cellularization.

In addition, FT expression was sustained at lower level with or without ABA treatment in ABI5-5 plants. Disruption of ABI5 increases Arabidopsis ABA‐insensitivity and decreases the expression of many ABA‐responsive genes (Finkelstein and Lynch, 2000b), whereas ABI5‐overexpressing plants were hypersensitive to ABA during seed germination and early seedling development (Lopez‐Molina et al., 2001). 2019-08-09 · ABF3 and ABI5 are Group A bZIP TFs that are known to be important in abscisic acid (ABA) signaling.
